When Safety Becomes Optional: The Tragedy in Boulder and the Cost of Failed Policies
On Sunday, June 1, 2025, a peaceful demonstration in Boulder, Colorado turned into a scene of terror. Participants of a weekly walk organized by Run for Their Lives, advocating for the release of Israeli hostages, were attacked by a man wielding a makeshift flamethrower and incendiary devices. The assailant, identified as 45-year-old Mohamed Sabry Soliman, shouted “Free Palestine” as he injured eight individuals, aged between 52 and 88, including a Holocaust survivor . The FBI is investigating the incident as a targeted act of terrorism .
This horrifying event is not isolated but indicative of a broader pattern. Soliman, an Egyptian national, had overstayed his visa and was living illegally in the U.S. He expressed intentions to “kill all Zionist people” and admitted to planning the attack for a year . Such incidents raise concerns about the effectiveness of current immigration policies and the enforcement of laws designed to protect citizens.
